Adopting from Summit Farms Rescue

  1. What to Expect

  2. Bringing a new furry family member home is a major decision. We want your new best friend to be able to live his/her very best life with you, so we go through a couple of steps in our adoption process. We want to make sure that it's a good fit; some animals come with baggage, meaning that they aren't always the best for your situation. Come meet the Alaskan Dog you think you want, spend some time together, and if you have other pets, consider doing a controlled "Meet & Greet" at the Adoption Center!

  3. What treatment has my new pet had?

  4. Summit Farms Rescue ensures all adoptable pets go to their forever homes spayed/neutered, microchipped and registered. In addition, all pets receive an intake wellness exam with one of our veterinarians, including age-appropriate vaccinations, dental health check, parasite screening and deworming, and appropriate diagnostic testing. Your pet may have also had surgery, dental procedures, lab work, and digital imaging. We make sure our new pet-parents are fully informed of any ongoing health concerns we are aware of.

  5. Help with your Future together

  6. Summit Farms is dedicated to keeping pets out of shelters and rescues and helping them remain in homes with people who love them. As pet guardians, we try to understand our pets the best we can, even if that means going though some tough and frustrating growing pains! Our Rescue is here to help you and your pet in your time of need. Maybe you just need advice on potty training, or maybe you need to see if you qualify for our medical expense relief assistance. We have Pet Behavior Helplines and offer training services and many other resources to make your relationship with your Alaskan Dog the best that it can be!

Dogs available for adoption:

sleeping malamute

Moose

Moose is a 3 year old Malamute that weighs about 85 pounds. He is a big boy that has been very well loved in his home, unfortunately he is not getting along with the original dog in the home. We believe Moose would do best as an only dog. He is house trained and trust worthy to be left alone with no issues. Moose would do best with older children in the home but has not been around cats. He is very smart affectionate, and fairly quiet but does sing-a-long to sirens and other wooing sounds. Moose would love a fenced in back yard to safely spend time outdoors.

american eskimo

Mandy

Mandy is a 1 year old American Eskimo. She is a playful girl with a very sweet disposition. She gets along with dogs, loves kids and is on her way to being potty trained. She has a lot of energy, so an active person or family would make the best fit. A fenced in yard and another dog would certainly make this girl happy!

klee kai dog

Kody

Kody is an athletic 3 year old Alaskan Klee Kai who loves going on walks and runs! He walks well on a leash, but even better with a harness, because he loves to pull if he see a squirrel! Kody needs a physically fenced yard, because if he sees something or catches a scent, he is off to check it out. Because of this, living in an apartment would not be a good fit for him.

Beverly

Bev is a 7-8 year old Alaskan Greenland. She is house/kennel trained, and definitely wants to learn how to dog! She was found in 2019 living in a wood pile protecting her puppies, so she has some trauma there that needs worked through and a dedicated adopter will do so much for her. She needs a very structured living environment and a strong dog-savvy owner. She loves to be outside so would enjoy a nice physically fenced yard (no invisible fencing with her history, sorry). Once she is comfortable with you, she likes to snuggle and give kisses and hugs -- but it may take a few weeks for her to warm up fully.

Ruth

Ruth is a spunky 10 year old Siberian Husky who LOVES attention from humans! Even though she came in as an unclaimed stray from crappy conditions, she's a great girl with a very funny personality. She's shown some signs of guarding and would need to be fed away from other animals. We have never had her around cats or small children but she has enjoyed every human she has met so far including men, women and older children. Although she may need to be taught a new potty routine in her new home, Ruth quickly learned to use the dog door and goes outside now with no accidents inside. Whoever chooses to love this girl in her retirement years will get the greatest reward as she is an absolute joy to have around!
